Day 8 - 12 Days of Reflection 2012

Day 8: #reflect12 "If you could say thank you to someone or to a # of people, who would they would be?"

So we did a thankful list but how about a "thank you" list. If we can put together a list of people who have been there for us in the past year, perhaps a bus driver who waited for you at the stop several mornings, or a neighbor, a teacher, your family members or friends. A simple "thank you" could bring a special holiday joy into their lives. Perhaps you will consider sending them a "thank you" note, text or phone call to them after this.

Blessings,

12 Days of Reflection 2012 Challenge

12 Days of Reflection 2012 Challenge December 12-23rd Reflection-> the ability to reflect beams or rays. Reflect-> manifest or bring back
Join me again for 12 days of Reflection 2012. Every year around the holidays, I dedicate some time to #reflect in a journal or notebook with questions and lists about the past year and my hopes for the New Year. Two years ago, I was so inspired by a group of women who created an online challenge of sorts called #reverb11, #relish11, or # resound11 (check those hashtags on Twitter, especially my creative friend, Hope from www.Besottment.com) They gave out daily prompts or questions throughout the month of December that allowed you to think about the past year and to also prepare for the coming year through reflective writing, journaling or drawing. It doesn’t take much to start; all you need is a pen, some paper/journal or even use your notes section from your phone or tablet and a few minutes out of your day. Share the questions with your family and friends, add your own questions for yourself, get creative with your pages (if you want to) and just enjoy the journey. I have decided to create a smaller version of this event called 12 Days of Reflection (#reflect12) from December 12th – 23rd filled with topics on the past year and preparing for 2013. You can follow my prompts here on www.AyeShanti.com on my Facebook page, Twitter or on Instagram. Have fun and share your entries! If you post about your reflections, tag your friends and also use the hashtag: #reflect12! If you blog about it, share it with me. Day One:

Midsummer Isle's Dream Collection 2012

It's 1am and I'm up adding finishing touches to orders, projects and preparing for the release of a collection I call "Midsummer Isle's Dream". These designs are filled with color, flair, riddim and a mix of fabrics and metals. I was so inspired by the mix of my Caribbean roots and Urban settings, that I somehow enjoy sketching designs that merges both worlds. I currently have a few of the pieces up and ready for purchase in my SHOP so definitely check it out.

Here are some of the designs currently up:

Tie Dye Fringe Necklace Short
Hand dyed Fringe Necklace Medium
Tie Dye Fringe Necklace Extra Long
Tie Dye Fringe Earrings Short
There's more to come... sweet dreams

Monday Inspiration: Keeping Writing...

#Writeon when dealing with situations. Dealing with the passing of a family member, I decided to just write. I pray the words from my pages blows into the wind and meets them in thanksgiving. The following quote that I posted on Instagram comes from Sonia Sanchez "I write to keep in contact with our ancestors and to spread truth to people."
Blessings,
Shanti

Monday Inspiration: Good Ole' Fashion Snailmail

Ole' fashion #snailmail... It's so personal and true, knowing that someone's hand took their time to create those strokes of written words... Find some paper, a writing utensil and write someone. The anticipation of waiting for a reply is exciting!

Friday Instagram Faves and NEW Vintage Finds

Happy Friday Everyone!
Just wanted to share a few of my favorite Instagram photos for this week which really all happened yesterday at music festival under the Brooklyn Bridge which celebrated the music and culture of Brazil:

You should definitely sign up for your local community events, especially with summer on its way. If you're in Brooklyn check out www.bricartsmedia.org

Also, I'm preparing a new line of designs inspired by vintage finds. I was blessed with some pieces from a friend who shops only vintage and being its only of each, I'll be up-cycling the pieces for a new look and flavor for order. Again, it's O.A.K. (one of a kind) so first come first serve, I'll choose a date when they'll be up for purchase, do definitely check in!

Have a great and blessed weekend,

Monday Inspiration: I'm Choosing Pleasant

I love to doodle, write and create lil' pieces of works that can be placed in books to be found years from now. So in creating the Monday Inspiration, I was inspired by a quote sent to me this morning and it was definitely needed: "There's no time like the Pleasant." -Oliver Herford

I thought to myself wow, ain't that the truth. In further research, I also found a similar quote:

"Never put off enjoyment because there's no time like the pleasant." - Evan Esar

So, I'm choosing to enjoy the moments, every lil bits and pieces of it in my life.
There's nothing like carrying a pleasant attitude when trying to get through life. The simple gestures of a smile, a handwritten note to self or a yummy cup of tea when one is stressed, can bring you to a place of peace and balance.

(written on kraft card stock envelope, Paper Mate Flair felt tip pen and white uni-ball signo pen)

Have a great day
